  • Application & scope. Define railway activities, sites, product scope and whether ISO 22163 or IRIS scheme recognition is sought.
  • Programme review & planning. Confirm scope, competence and certification rules; IRIS recognition additionally requires approved scheme participation.
  • Stage 1 — readiness. Review railway processes, performance data and readiness under the contracted certification route.
  • Stage 2 — implementation. Assess applicable railway controls and, for IRIS, complete the required performance assessment.
  • Nonconformity resolution. Review corrections and corrective actions; verify closure or accept action plans as the applicable rules require.
  • Independent decision & scheme records. Complete independent certification review and any required IRIS portal or scheme registration activities.
  • Surveillance. Review railway performance, changes and conformity under the applicable programme or IRIS rules.
  • Recertification. Reassess the system before certificate expiry and complete the required review and decision for a new cycle.
