Programme Summary
Effective building controls depend on accurate signals, appropriate sequences and disciplined operator decisions. This programme develops practical skills in interpreting building management system information, investigating alarms and improving operating schedules. Participants use simulated plant trends and control diagrams to diagnose performance problems, propose controlled adjustments and document a measurable improvement without compromising occupant needs or essential safeguards.
Training Objectives
1 Develop understanding of building controls architecture; 2 Improve interpretation of alarms and trends; 3 Strengthen diagnosis of operating sequence problems; 4 Support controlled optimisation of system settings; 5 Build disciplined records for operational changes.
Learning Outcomes
1 Map equipment points to operating functions; 2 Interpret trends and identify abnormal behaviour; 3 Diagnose a supplied control sequence fault; 4 Recommend justified changes within operating limits; 5 Prepare an optimisation and verification record.
Target Audience
Building Services Engineers; BMS Operators; Facilities Engineers; Maintenance Supervisors; Energy Managers.
Target Industries
Commercial Offices; Hospitals; Hotels; Shopping Centres; University Campuses; Data Centres.
Course Contents

- Module 12 Operational Case Workshop: Diagnosing a supplied building scenario; Prioritising adjustments and implementation controls; Preparing a monitoring and review plan.
Assessment
- 60 single best answer questions, including applied scenarios; one mark per question.
- 90 minute invigilated digital examination with identity verification. Approved accessibility adjustments preserve the assessed competence.
- Supplied reference pack permitted; external internet and AI assistance prohibited.
- Individual applied assessment (45 minutes): Interpret supplied trends, identify two control faults and prepare a change proposal with operating limits, rollback arrangements and verification measures.
- Assessment criteria: Accuracy of trend and fault interpretation; Suitability of proposed control adjustments; Completeness of verification and rollback arrangements.
- Pass each component separately: 45/60 written marks (75%) and at least 70% on the applied task.
- All mandatory criteria must pass: Do not bypass protective interlocks or access controls.
- Individual results and feedback are provided. One reassessment may follow coaching under the published enrolment terms.
Certification
- Successful learners receive a TQCSI Arabia digital Certificate of Successful Completion.
- The certificate records the learner name, exact programme title, teaching hours, completion date and unique verification reference.
- Verified identity, full attendance and separate written and applied passes are required; all mandatory critical criteria must be met.
- Proposed issue target: within 30 calendar days of approved results and settlement of applicable fees.
- Records assessed building controls operation and optimisation skills; it does not authorise commissioning, safety system modification or unrestricted system access.
- Attendance confirmation may record completed hours for unsuccessful learners; it does not certify successful completion.
