Programme Summary

Construction quality depends on translating project requirements into controlled work, verifiable inspections and complete records. This programme distinguishes contractor quality control from assurance oversight and develops practical approaches to quality plans, submittals, inspection points, testing interfaces and nonconformity resolution. Participants use a construction work package to prepare an inspection and test plan and assemble evidence supporting release and handover decisions.

02

Training Objectives

1 Strengthen understanding of construction quality responsibilities and interfaces; 2 Improve translation of specifications into inspection controls; 3 Develop disciplined management of submittals and records; 4 Promote timely identification and resolution of defects; 5 Build confidence in evidence based handover decisions.

03

Learning Outcomes

1 Extract acceptance criteria from supplied construction specifications; 2 Prepare an inspection and test plan section; 3 Distinguish hold points from routine inspection activities; 4 Write a factual construction nonconformity report; 5 Compile a traceable work package handover index.

04

Target Audience

QA QC Engineers; Site Engineers; Construction Supervisors; Quality Inspectors; Project Quality Coordinators; Construction Managers.

05

Target Industries

Building Construction; Civil Infrastructure; Industrial Projects; Utilities Construction; Oil and Gas Projects; Mechanical Electrical Contracting.

Course Contents

  • Module 1 Quality Roles and Contract Context: Contractor quality control and assurance; Project responsibilities and reporting interfaces; Contract requirements and acceptance authority.
  • Module 2 Project Quality Planning: Quality objectives and work packages; Quality plan structure and resources; Risk based inspection coverage decisions.
  • Module 3 Requirements and Drawing Control: Specification clauses and acceptance criteria; Drawing revisions and technical queries; Managing conflicting or incomplete requirements.
  • Module 4 Materials and Submittals: Material approval and technical submittals; Receiving identification and traceability checks; Storage protection and release status.
  • Module 5 Inspection and Test Planning: Inspection stages and test requirements; Hold points and witness points; Responsibilities records and acceptance references.
  • Module 6 Readiness and Preparatory Control: Work method and readiness reviews; Equipment personnel and material prerequisites; Preconstruction coordination and anticipated defects.
  • Module 7 Initial and Continuing Control: Initial workmanship and installation checks; Continuing inspection and consistency monitoring; Concealed work and release records.
  • Module 8 Testing and Measurement Interfaces: Test methods and laboratory competence; Equipment calibration and result traceability; Reviewing results against specified criteria.
  • Module 9 Defects and Nonconformities: Objective evidence and requirement references; Containment disposition and approval authority; Corrective actions and verification records.
  • Module 10 Quality Records and Reporting: Inspection requests and completed checklists; Photographic evidence and location identification; Progress measures and quality trend reporting.
  • Module 11 Completion and Handover: Punch lists and defect closure; As built records and completion evidence; Handover dossiers and outstanding obligations.
  • Module 12 Work Package Quality Exercise: Linking requirements inspections and records; Evaluating incomplete or conflicting evidence; Presenting a justified release recommendation.

Assessment

  • 60 single best answer questions, including applied scenarios; one mark per question.
  • 90 minute invigilated digital examination with identity verification. Approved accessibility adjustments preserve the assessed competence.
  • Supplied drawings, specifications and inspection templates permitted. Internet and AI assistance prohibited.
  • Individual applied assessment (45 minutes): From a supplied work package, complete an inspection and test plan for one construction activity, draft one evidence based nonconformity and identify documents needed before release. Use provided templates rather than designing a complete project quality system.
  • Assessment criteria: Traceability of acceptance criteria and inspection points; Accuracy and objectivity of nonconformity evidence; Completeness of release conditions and records.
  • Pass each component separately: 45/60 written marks (75%) and at least 70% on the applied task.
  • All mandatory criteria must pass: Do not release work when an identified mandatory hold point remains unresolved.
  • Individual results and feedback are provided. One reassessment may follow coaching under the published enrolment terms.

Certification

  • Successful learners receive a TQCSI Arabia digital Certificate of Successful Completion.
  • The certificate records the learner name, exact programme title, teaching hours, completion date and unique verification reference.
  • Verified identity, full attendance and separate written and applied passes are required; all mandatory critical criteria must be met.
  • Proposed issue target: within 30 calendar days of approved results and settlement of applicable fees.
  • Records assessed construction quality planning and control skills; inspection authorisation and engineering signoff remain employer and jurisdiction specific.
  • Attendance confirmation may record completed hours for unsuccessful learners; it does not certify successful completion.
