Programme Summary
Strengthen the safe planning and verification habits needed before work on low-voltage electrical equipment. Participants review electrical hazards, multiple energy sources, isolation responsibilities and suitable testing arrangements, then practise controlled procedures on purpose-designed training equipment. The programme emphasises verified isolation, clear communication and individual practical evidence within the learner’s existing electrical competence and employer-authorised scope.
Training Objectives
1 Recognise electrical hazards and competence limits; 2 Plan isolation against identified energy sources; 3 Select appropriate verification equipment and controls; 4 Practise secure isolation and disciplined communication; 5 Define safe restoration and escalation arrangements.
Learning Outcomes
1 Identify sources and isolation points in drawings; 2 Prepare a task-specific electrical isolation plan; 3 Select suitable inspected voltage-verification equipment; 4 Demonstrate a complete simulated isolation sequence; 5 Explain controlled handback and unsafe-condition escalation.
Target Audience
Electricians; Electrical Maintenance Technicians; Electrical Supervisors; Electrical Engineers; Commissioning Technicians; Facilities Electrical Technicians.
Target Industries
Manufacturing; Commercial Facilities; Construction Electrical Contracting; Water Utilities; Food Processing; Industrial Maintenance Services.
Course Contents
- Module 1 Electrical Hazards and Authorisation: Shock burns and arc-related hazards; Competence boundaries and employer authorisation; Stop-work conditions and specialist escalation.
- Module 2 Planning Work and Identifying Supplies: Drawings equipment identification and work boundaries; Main alternative backfeed and stored energy sources; Risk assessment permits and affected-person communication.
- Module 3 Isolation Equipment and Protective Controls: Suitable isolation devices and secure locking; Test equipment ratings condition and inspection; Protective equipment and access restrictions.
- Module 4 Securing the Isolation: Agreed shutdown and source control arrangements; Personal locks identification and key control; Multiple workers and shift handover interfaces.
- Module 5 Verifying Absence of Voltage: Suitable voltage detector and proving arrangements; Verification at relevant conductors and work points; Detector function checks before and after verification.
- Module 6 Maintaining a Safe Work Condition: Stored energy adjacent circuits and boundary changes; Protecting the isolation throughout the task; Unexpected readings defects and stop-work escalation.
- Module 7 Restoration and Controlled Handback: Work completion checks and personnel clearance; Authorised lock removal and restoration procedures; Communication records and equipment handback.
- Module 8 Supervised Safe Isolation Practice: Individual planning and equipment selection; Complete isolation simulation with assessor observation; Critical-error recognition and corrective feedback.
Assessment
- 40 single best answer questions, including applied scenarios; one mark per question.
- 60 minute invigilated digital examination with identity verification. Approved accessibility adjustments preserve the assessed competence.
- Written exam closed book; supplied drawings and procedures permitted during practical simulation. Internet, messaging and AI tools prohibited.
- Individual applied assessment (90 minutes): Individually plan and demonstrate safe isolation on a purpose-designed low-voltage training simulator. Identify all supplied sources, apply secure isolation, demonstrate absence-of-voltage verification and explain controlled restoration, including the response to an unexpected indication.
- Assessment criteria: Accurate source identification planning and communication; Correct equipment selection and complete verified isolation; Safe decisions records and controlled restoration explanation.
- Pass each component separately: 30/40 written marks (75%) and at least 70% on the applied task.
- All mandatory criteria must pass: Do not proceed while isolation or absence of voltage remains unverified; Demonstrate detector proving before and after absence-of-voltage checks; Maintain personal control of the isolation and stop for unexpected indications.
- Individual results and feedback are provided. One reassessment may follow coaching under the published enrolment terms.
Certification
- Successful learners receive a TQCSI Arabia digital Certificate of Successful Completion.
- The certificate records the learner name, exact programme title, teaching hours, completion date and unique verification reference.
- Verified identity, full attendance and separate written and applied passes are required; all mandatory critical criteria must be met.
- Proposed issue target: within 30 calendar days of approved results and settlement of applicable fees.
- Records assessed electrical safety and simulated isolation skills; it does not authorise electrical work or confer an electrical licence.
- Attendance confirmation may record completed hours for unsuccessful learners; it does not certify successful completion.
