Programme Summary

Reliable engineering work depends on reading drawings correctly and controlling the information used in the field. This programme develops practical skills in interpreting common drawings, checking revisions and identifying inconsistencies across technical records. Participants review a realistic documentation package, raise precise technical queries and prepare controlled updates that support maintenance, construction and handover activities within their role.

02

Training Objectives

1 Improve interpretation of common engineering drawings; 2 Strengthen technical document and revision controls; 3 Support clear engineering queries and markups; 4 Connect records with asset maintenance needs; 5 Reduce errors from outdated technical information.

03

Learning Outcomes

1 Interpret symbols dimensions and drawing references; 2 Trace equipment across related technical documents; 3 Identify revision and consistency discrepancies; 4 Prepare an unambiguous technical query; 5 Compile a controlled handover document checklist.

04

Target Audience

Engineering Coordinators; Maintenance Planners; Site Engineers; Document Controllers; Technical Supervisors.

05

Target Industries

Construction; Manufacturing; Utilities; Oil and Gas; Facilities Management; Infrastructure Projects.

Course Contents

  • Module 1 Drawing Types and Purpose: Layouts schematics and assembly drawings; Process flow and instrumentation diagrams; Discipline interfaces and document relationships.
  • Module 2 Drawing Interpretation: Symbols legends and drawing conventions; Dimensions tolerances and reference scales; Equipment tags and cross references.
  • Module 3 Technical Specifications: Scope performance and acceptance requirements; Manufacturer manuals and data sheets; Resolving conflicting technical information.
  • Module 4 Revision and Document Control: Document numbering and status codes; Review approval and distribution controls; Superseded information and field access.
  • Module 5 Queries and Field Markups: Clear technical questions and supporting evidence; Redline records and change identification; Approval boundaries and traceable responses.
  • Module 6 Asset and Maintenance Information: Equipment lists and asset registers; Maintenance instructions and spare parts; Linking records to physical configuration.
  • Module 7 Handover and Record Quality: As built information and verification; Completeness readability and traceability checks; Retention access and ownership responsibilities.
  • Module 8 Documentation Review Workshop: Reviewing a supplied drawing package; Recording discrepancies and technical queries; Preparing a controlled closeout checklist.
07

Assessment

  • 40 single best answer questions, including applied scenarios; one mark per question.
  • 60 minute invigilated digital examination with identity verification. Approved accessibility adjustments preserve the assessed competence.
  • Supplied reference pack permitted; external internet and AI assistance prohibited.
  • Individual applied assessment (30 minutes): Review a drawing package, identify revision and technical discrepancies, prepare two technical queries and produce a handover completeness checklist.
  • Assessment criteria: Accuracy of drawing interpretation; Clarity and traceability of technical queries; Completeness of document control checks.
  • Pass each component separately: 30/40 written marks (75%) and at least 70% on the applied task.
  • Individual results and feedback are provided. One reassessment may follow coaching under the published enrolment terms.
08

Certification

  • Successful learners receive a TQCSI Arabia digital Certificate of Successful Completion.
  • The certificate records the learner name, exact programme title, teaching hours, completion date and unique verification reference.
  • Verified identity, full attendance and separate written and applied passes are required; all mandatory critical criteria must be met.
  • Proposed issue target: within 30 calendar days of approved results and settlement of applicable fees.
  • Records assessed drawing interpretation and technical documentation skills; it does not confer engineering design authority or professional registration.
  • Attendance confirmation may record completed hours for unsuccessful learners; it does not certify successful completion.
