Programme Summary

Shutdowns demand disciplined scope control, realistic scheduling and coordinated readiness across operations, maintenance and contractors. This programme develops practical planning skills for major maintenance windows. Participants build a shutdown plan from a supplied work scope, test resource and dependency constraints, define readiness gates and prepare startup handover controls that protect schedule reliability, technical quality and safe execution.

02

Training Objectives

1 Strengthen shutdown scope and readiness governance; 2 Develop realistic schedules and resource plans; 3 Improve contractor and operational interface coordination; 4 Support controlled execution and change decisions; 5 Build effective startup and lessons learned controls.

03

Learning Outcomes

1 Define a controlled shutdown work scope; 2 Construct a dependency based shutdown schedule; 3 Identify material resource and permit constraints; 4 Prepare readiness and progress control records; 5 Develop startup handover and closeout criteria.

04

Target Audience

Shutdown Planners; Maintenance Managers; Project Engineers; Operations Supervisors; Contractor Coordinators; Turnaround Managers.

05

Target Industries

Refineries; Petrochemical Plants; Power Stations; Chemical Manufacturing; Mining Plants; Water Treatment.

Assessment

  • 60 single best answer questions, including applied scenarios; one mark per question.
  • 90 minute invigilated digital examination with identity verification. Approved accessibility adjustments preserve the assessed competence.
  • Supplied reference pack permitted; external internet and AI assistance prohibited.
  • Individual applied assessment (45 minutes): Prepare a shutdown schedule and readiness register for a supplied scope, then respond to an emerging work scenario with revised priorities and startup controls.
  • Assessment criteria: Logic and feasibility of shutdown sequencing; Completeness of readiness and interface controls; Quality of change and startup decisions.
  • Pass each component separately: 45/60 written marks (75%) and at least 70% on the applied task.
  • All mandatory criteria must pass: Escalate unresolved isolation or startup safety constraints.
  • Individual results and feedback are provided. One reassessment may follow coaching under the published enrolment terms.

Certification

  • Successful learners receive a TQCSI Arabia digital Certificate of Successful Completion.
  • The certificate records the learner name, exact programme title, teaching hours, completion date and unique verification reference.
  • Verified identity, full attendance and separate written and applied passes are required; all mandatory critical criteria must be met.
  • Proposed issue target: within 30 calendar days of approved results and settlement of applicable fees.
  • Records assessed shutdown planning and coordination skills; it does not authorise permits, isolations, plant startup or statutory technical signoff.
  • Attendance confirmation may record completed hours for unsuccessful learners; it does not certify successful completion.
