Programme Summary

Identify practical ways to retain material value and reduce resource losses across products and operations. Participants map resource flows, evaluate reuse, repair, remanufacturing and recovery options, and compare business models against technical and customer requirements. A focused case develops a circular improvement proposal supported by measurable outcomes, lifecycle considerations and realistic assumptions about infrastructure, markets and implementation responsibilities.

02

Training Objectives

1 Clarify circular economy principles and value retention; 2 Reveal resource losses across operational value chains; 3 Evaluate practical circular design and business options; 4 Connect circularity measures with environmental evidence; 5 Develop feasible resource efficiency improvement proposals.

03

Learning Outcomes

1 Map a resource flow and its losses; 2 Select suitable value retention opportunities; 3 Compare circular options against practical constraints; 4 Define indicators and evidence for proposed improvements; 5 Prepare a justified circular improvement business case.

04

Target Audience

Sustainability Managers; Operations Managers; Product Designers; Procurement Managers; Resource Efficiency Coordinators; Manufacturing Engineers.

05

Course Contents

  • Module 1 Circular Economy and Resource Value: Finite resources and regenerative system thinking; Value retention and interconnected material flows; Circularity versus recycling and waste diversion.
  • Module 2 Resource Flow and Loss Mapping: Material inputs useful outputs and losses; Product lifetime utilisation and reverse flows; Data boundaries and mass balance checks.
  • Module 3 Design for Value Retention: Durability maintenance repair and modularity; Reuse refurbishment and remanufacturing opportunities; Material choices and safe recovery compatibility.
  • Module 4 Circular Business and Supply Arrangements: Product service models and retained ownership; Reverse logistics takeback and secondary markets; Supplier customer and recovery partner responsibilities.
  • Module 5 Evaluating Technical and Environmental Tradeoffs: Quality safety and performance requirements; Lifecycle energy water and emissions effects; Rebound effects contamination and displacement assumptions.
  • Module 6 Circularity and Resource Efficiency Measures: Input output and retained value indicators; Baseline boundaries and calculation consistency; Separating circularity performance from environmental benefit.
  • Module 7 Implementation and Business Case Planning: Costs benefits infrastructure and market demand; Pilot scope owners and performance evidence; Barriers stakeholder incentives and change control.
  • Module 8 Circular Opportunity Case Workshop: Prioritising opportunities from a resource map; Developing a feasible improvement proposal; Defending measurement assumptions and implementation milestones.
07

Assessment

  • 40 single best answer questions, including applied scenarios; one mark per question.
  • 60 minute invigilated digital examination with identity verification. Approved accessibility adjustments preserve the assessed competence.
  • Supplied reference pack and calculator permitted; external internet and AI prohibited.
  • Individual applied assessment (30 minutes): Analyse a supplied material flow, compare two value retention options and prepare a circular improvement proposal with feasibility constraints, measurable indicators and an environmental evidence plan.
  • Assessment criteria: Accurate resource flow and opportunity analysis; Feasible option comparison with lifecycle tradeoffs; Relevant indicators evidence and implementation responsibilities.
  • Pass each component separately: 30/40 written marks (75%) and at least 70% on the applied task.
  • Individual results and feedback are provided. One reassessment may follow coaching under the published enrolment terms.
08

Certification

  • Successful learners receive a TQCSI Arabia digital Certificate of Successful Completion.
  • The certificate records the learner name, exact programme title, teaching hours, completion date and unique verification reference.
  • Verified identity, full attendance and separate written and applied passes are required; all mandatory critical criteria must be met.
  • Proposed issue target: within 30 calendar days of approved results and settlement of applicable fees.
  • Records circular economy and resource efficiency learning; it does not certify circularity, environmental performance or conformity with a management system standard.
  • Attendance confirmation may record completed hours for unsuccessful learners; it does not certify successful completion.
