Programme Summary

Turn climate information into practical decisions about organisational resilience. Participants connect hazards with exposed assets, vulnerable operations and supply dependencies, then compare adaptation options across plausible futures. A business case develops a prioritised adaptation plan with owners, review triggers and transparent assumptions, helping teams distinguish adaptation from emission reduction and avoid measures that transfer or intensify risk elsewhere.

02

Training Objectives

1 Clarify climate hazards exposure and vulnerability; 2 Improve interpretation of scenarios and uncertain evidence; 3 Identify material operational climate risk pathways; 4 Evaluate feasible adaptation options and tradeoffs; 5 Develop accountable and adaptable resilience plans.

03

Learning Outcomes

1 Map hazards to exposed business dependencies; 2 Assess vulnerability using supplied contextual evidence; 3 Interpret scenarios without treating them as predictions; 4 Compare adaptation options and maladaptation risks; 5 Prepare an adaptation plan with review triggers.

04

Target Audience

Risk Managers; Business Continuity Managers; Sustainability Managers; Facilities Managers; Infrastructure Planners; Supply Chain Managers.

05

Target Industries

Utilities; Transport and Logistics; Real Estate; Manufacturing; Agriculture; Infrastructure Operators.

Course Contents

  • Module 1 Climate Risk and Adaptation Foundations: Physical hazards exposure and vulnerability relationships; Acute chronic and compound climate effects; Adaptation mitigation and transition risk distinctions.
  • Module 2 Business Boundaries and Dependency Mapping: Sites people assets and critical activities; Supply chains utilities and service dependencies; Time horizons and decision lifetimes.
  • Module 3 Climate Evidence and Scenario Interpretation: Historical observations and projected climate information; Scenario ranges uncertainty and spatial limitations; Avoiding false precision and deterministic forecasts.
  • Module 4 Risk Pathways and Vulnerability Assessment: Hazard to disruption and consequence chains; Existing controls sensitivity and adaptive capacity; Prioritising risks with transparent assumptions.
  • Module 5 Adaptation Option Development: Operational physical ecosystem and supply responses; Risk avoidance flexibility and contingency measures; Short term actions and staged investment pathways.
  • Module 6 Evaluating Options and Maladaptation: Effectiveness feasibility costs and distributional effects; Risk transfer lock in and unintended consequences; Robust choices across plausible future conditions.
  • Module 7 Implementation Monitoring and Review: Owners budgets dependencies and response thresholds; Leading indicators adaptation outcomes and triggers; Learning from events and revising assumptions.
  • Module 8 Climate Adaptation Planning Case: Assessing a fictional asset risk profile; Comparing options and explaining residual vulnerability; Presenting a phased adaptation and review plan.
07

Assessment

  • 40 single best answer questions, including applied scenarios; one mark per question.
  • 60 minute invigilated digital examination with identity verification. Approved accessibility adjustments preserve the assessed competence.
  • Supplied reference pack and calculator permitted; external internet and AI prohibited.
  • Individual applied assessment (30 minutes): Assess a supplied asset and supply dependency under two climate scenarios, prioritise risks, compare two adaptation options and prepare a phased plan with monitoring and review triggers.
  • Assessment criteria: Coherent hazard exposure and vulnerability reasoning; Balanced option evaluation and uncertainty treatment; Practical actions owners and adaptive review triggers.
  • Pass each component separately: 30/40 written marks (75%) and at least 70% on the applied task.
  • Individual results and feedback are provided. One reassessment may follow coaching under the published enrolment terms.
08

Certification

  • Successful learners receive a TQCSI Arabia digital Certificate of Successful Completion.
  • The certificate records the learner name, exact programme title, teaching hours, completion date and unique verification reference.
  • Verified identity, full attendance and separate written and applied passes are required; all mandatory critical criteria must be met.
  • Proposed issue target: within 30 calendar days of approved results and settlement of applicable fees.
  • Records climate risk and adaptation planning learning; it does not certify resilience, predict local climate outcomes or replace specialist engineering studies.
  • Attendance confirmation may record completed hours for unsuccessful learners; it does not certify successful completion.
