Programme Summary
Strengthen control of waste from generation to confirmed treatment or disposal. Participants evaluate prevention opportunities, identify hazardous characteristics, plan compatible segregation and storage, and examine transfer documentation and contractor evidence. A facility waste case develops practical decisions that protect people and the environment while recognising that classifications, transport permissions and record requirements depend on the applicable jurisdiction.
Training Objectives
1 Strengthen waste prevention and recovery planning; 2 Improve recognition of hazardous waste concerns; 3 Develop compatible segregation and storage controls; 4 Build reliable waste transfer and contractor evidence; 5 Connect waste performance with operational improvement.
Learning Outcomes
1 Map waste streams and prevention opportunities; 2 Identify waste classification evidence and uncertainties; 3 Design a compatible waste segregation arrangement; 4 Check waste transfer and contractor records; 5 Prepare a prioritised waste improvement plan.
Target Audience
Waste Coordinators; Environmental Officers; Warehouse Supervisors; Facilities Managers; Operations Supervisors; HSE Officers.
Target Industries
Manufacturing; Chemical Distribution; Construction; Commercial Facilities; Food Processing; Maintenance Services.
Course Contents
- Module 1 Waste Streams and Management Responsibilities: Waste sources quantities and process interfaces; Lifecycle responsibility and local requirement checks; Waste inventories and accountable ownership.
- Module 2 Prevention and Recovery Opportunities: Source reduction and material substitution; Reuse recycling and recovery suitability; Avoiding contamination that prevents useful recovery.
- Module 3 Hazardous Waste Identification: Hazardous properties and supporting evidence; Composition testing and classification uncertainty; Distinguishing waste codes from hazard assessment.
- Module 4 Segregation and Storage Controls: Chemical compatibility and separated waste streams; Containers labels containment and weather protection; Accumulation controls and inspection arrangements.
- Module 5 Handling and Internal Movement: Task risks and competent personnel; Safe transfer routes and suitable equipment; Damaged containers and abnormal condition escalation.
- Module 6 Contractors Transport and Destination Evidence: Checking carrier and facility authorisations; Transfer records quantities and chain traceability; Confirming treatment routes and unresolved discrepancies.
- Module 7 Monitoring and Waste Improvement: Waste intensity and material loss indicators; Contractor performance and cost visibility; Investigation corrective action and progress review.
- Module 8 Waste Management Case Exercise: Reviewing a facility waste control pack; Designing segregation and documentation improvements; Presenting justified prevention and recovery priorities.
Assessment
- 40 single best answer questions, including applied scenarios; one mark per question.
- 60 minute invigilated digital examination with identity verification. Approved accessibility adjustments preserve the assessed competence.
- Supplied reference pack and calculator permitted; external internet and AI prohibited.
- Individual applied assessment (30 minutes): Review a facility waste inventory and transfer records, identify control gaps, propose a compatible storage arrangement and prioritise prevention and contractor follow up actions.
- Assessment criteria: Accurate identification of waste control gaps; Compatible storage and justified management routes; Traceable documentation and practical improvement priorities.
- Pass each component separately: 30/40 written marks (75%) and at least 70% on the applied task.
- All mandatory criteria must pass: Do not mix incompatible wastes or approve an unsupported disposal route.
- Individual results and feedback are provided. One reassessment may follow coaching under the published enrolment terms.
Certification
- Successful learners receive a TQCSI Arabia digital Certificate of Successful Completion.
- The certificate records the learner name, exact programme title, teaching hours, completion date and unique verification reference.
- Verified identity, full attendance and separate written and applied passes are required; all mandatory critical criteria must be met.
- Proposed issue target: within 30 calendar days of approved results and settlement of applicable fees.
- Records waste management learning; it does not authorise hazardous waste classification, transport, treatment or disposal where separate competence or permissions are required.
- Attendance confirmation may record completed hours for unsuccessful learners; it does not certify successful completion.
