Programme Summary
Connect facility water performance with the needs and constraints of the surrounding catchment. Participants construct a water balance, investigate unexplained losses and distinguish withdrawal, consumption and discharge. Case exercises combine efficiency opportunities with water quality, ecosystem and stakeholder considerations, producing a practical stewardship action plan that recognises shared challenges and avoids treating reduced site consumption as the only measure of responsible water use.
Training Objectives
1 Connect site water use with catchment conditions; 2 Strengthen water balance and data interpretation; 3 Identify feasible efficiency and loss reduction actions; 4 Integrate quality ecosystems and stakeholder considerations; 5 Develop accountable water stewardship improvement plans.
Learning Outcomes
1 Construct and reconcile a facility water balance; 2 Distinguish withdrawal consumption discharge and reuse; 3 Identify data gaps and likely water losses; 4 Prioritise site and catchment stewardship actions; 5 Define indicators owners and progress review arrangements.
Target Audience
Facilities Managers; Environmental Officers; Utilities Engineers; Water Efficiency Coordinators; Sustainability Managers; Operations Supervisors.
Target Industries
Food and Beverage Manufacturing; Hotels and Resorts; Commercial Facilities; Textile Manufacturing; Data Centres; Industrial Utilities.
Course Contents
- Module 1 Water Stewardship and Catchment Context: Site dependencies and shared water challenges; Water availability quality and ecosystem needs; Stakeholders governance and equitable access considerations.
- Module 2 Mapping Site Water Systems: Sources storage process uses and discharge; Withdrawal consumption return flows and reuse; Catchment connections and seasonal operating conditions.
- Module 3 Metering Data and Balance Boundaries: Meter locations coverage and reading periods; Consistent units estimates and data quality; Balance boundaries and internal recirculation treatment.
- Module 4 Constructing and Reconciling Water Balances: Inflows outflows storage changes and losses; End use estimates and unexplained differences; Testing uncertainty before assuming physical leakage.
- Module 5 Efficiency and Loss Reduction Opportunities: Leak detection maintenance and operating controls; Process optimisation and fit for purpose reuse; Quality hygiene and treatment energy tradeoffs.
- Module 6 Water Quality and Shared Risk Controls: Discharge characteristics and receiving environment sensitivity; Supply reliability and drought response interfaces; Protecting ecosystems sanitation and community interests.
- Module 7 Stewardship Planning and Performance Measures: Context relevant objectives owners and investments; Site action and collective collaboration opportunities; Tracking outcomes without unsupported water benefit claims.
- Module 8 Water Balance and Stewardship Case: Reconciling a fictional facility water balance; Prioritising losses efficiency and catchment actions; Presenting monitoring responsibilities and evidence limitations.
Assessment
- 40 single best answer questions, including applied scenarios; one mark per question.
- 60 minute invigilated digital examination with identity verification. Approved accessibility adjustments preserve the assessed competence.
- Supplied reference pack and calculator permitted; external internet and AI prohibited.
- Individual applied assessment (30 minutes): Reconcile a supplied facility water balance, identify uncertain flows, prioritise two site measures and one catchment engagement action, and define monitoring evidence for each.
- Assessment criteria: Correct water balance and flow distinctions; Context appropriate actions and tradeoff evaluation; Clear monitoring evidence and stakeholder responsibilities.
- Pass each component separately: 30/40 written marks (75%) and at least 70% on the applied task.
- Individual results and feedback are provided. One reassessment may follow coaching under the published enrolment terms.
Certification
- Successful learners receive a TQCSI Arabia digital Certificate of Successful Completion.
- The certificate records the learner name, exact programme title, teaching hours, completion date and unique verification reference.
- Verified identity, full attendance and separate written and applied passes are required; all mandatory critical criteria must be met.
- Proposed issue target: within 30 calendar days of approved results and settlement of applicable fees.
- Records water balance and stewardship planning skills; it does not certify water stewardship, authorise abstraction or approve discharge or treatment systems.
- Attendance confirmation may record completed hours for unsuccessful learners; it does not certify successful completion.
