Programme Summary

Develop the technical understanding needed to evaluate thermal food safety controls and prepare suitable validation work. Participants examine microbial targets, heat transfer, time and temperature evidence, process variability and measurement capability. Worked examples support interpretation of treatment records and deviation decisions, helping production and technical teams work effectively with competent process specialists and maintain validated operating conditions.

02

Training Objectives

1 Explain scientific foundations of thermal food controls; 2 Connect product properties with process performance; 3 Strengthen interpretation of validation and monitoring evidence; 4 Improve deviation investigation and change review; 5 Support competent specialist evaluation of thermal processes.

03

Learning Outcomes

1 Define the hazard and purpose of a treatment; 2 Identify variables affecting delivered thermal performance; 3 Interpret supplied time temperature and lethality data; 4 Specify evidence needed for a validation study; 5 Evaluate process deviations and revalidation triggers.

04

Target Audience

Process Technologists; Food Safety Managers; Production Engineers; Quality Managers; Product Development Technologists; Thermal Process Supervisors.

Assessment

  • 60 single best answer questions, including applied scenarios; one mark per question.
  • 90 minute invigilated digital examination with identity verification. Approved accessibility adjustments preserve the assessed competence.
  • Supplied reference sheets permitted; messaging, internet searches and external AI assistance prohibited.
  • Individual applied assessment (45 minutes): Review supplied thermal records and validation assumptions, calculate a simple treatment measure and prepare an evidence gap, deviation containment and specialist review recommendation.
  • Assessment criteria: Correct use of supplied calculations and assumptions; Identification of relevant process and evidence limitations; Safe containment and specialist validation recommendations.
  • Pass each component separately: 45/60 written marks (75%) and at least 70% on the applied task.
  • All mandatory criteria must pass: Do not approve commercial thermal schedules using unvalidated classroom calculations.
  • Individual results and feedback are provided. One reassessment may follow coaching under the published enrolment terms.

Certification

  • Successful learners receive a TQCSI Arabia digital Certificate of Successful Completion.
  • The certificate records the learner name, exact programme title, teaching hours, completion date and unique verification reference.
  • Verified identity, full attendance and separate written and applied passes are required; all mandatory critical criteria must be met.
  • Proposed issue target: within 30 calendar days of approved results and settlement of applicable fees.
  • Records thermal process learning; it does not qualify the holder as a process authority or authorise independent commercial process approval.
  • Attendance confirmation may record completed hours for unsuccessful learners; it does not certify successful completion.
