Programme Summary
Plan practical controls for noise and vibration risks using task information and credible exposure evidence. Participants distinguish relevant exposure measures, review equipment and work patterns, and prioritise engineering and organisational improvements. Case exercises address uncertain data, protection limitations and health surveillance interfaces, helping teams identify when competent measurement or specialist review is needed before making exposure or compliance conclusions.
Training Objectives
1 Recognise occupational noise and vibration hazards; 2 Interpret task duration and exposure information; 3 Prioritise effective engineering and work controls; 4 Understand protective equipment and surveillance limitations; 5 Plan competent assessment and ongoing review.
Learning Outcomes
1 Prepare a noise or vibration task profile; 2 Interpret supplied exposure calculations and assumptions; 3 Identify practical source and pathway controls; 4 Define monitoring and specialist review needs; 5 Draft a documented exposure reduction plan.
Target Audience
Safety Officers; HSE Coordinators; Operations Supervisors; Maintenance Supervisors; Facilities Supervisors.
Target Industries
Construction; Metal Fabrication; Manufacturing; Mining and Quarrying; Transport Maintenance; Utilities.
Course Contents
- Module 1 Noise and Vibration Hazards: Hearing hand arm and whole body effects; Sources tasks and exposed worker groups; Early reporting and competent health support.
- Module 2 Exposure Information: Magnitude duration and operating conditions; Manufacturer data versus representative workplace evidence; Uncertainty variability and measurement limitations.
- Module 3 Noise Assessment Concepts: Sound levels exposure time and combined tasks; Personal exposure versus area noise measurements; Applicable criteria and competent interpretation.
- Module 4 Vibration Assessment Concepts: Tool magnitude trigger time and task patterns; Hand arm and whole body distinctions; Calculation assumptions and specialist assessment needs.
- Module 5 Engineering and Organisational Controls: Quieter lower vibration equipment and processes; Maintenance isolation and exposure reduction methods; Scheduling breaks and realistic control limitations.
- Module 6 Protection and Health Surveillance: Hearing protection suitability fit and use; Limitations of gloves and protective equipment; Surveillance referral confidentiality and follow up.
- Module 7 Action Planning and Review: Priorities owners and implementation evidence; Information instruction and worker consultation; Review after equipment or task changes.
- Module 8 Exposure Control Workshop: Interpreting supplied task exposure information; Selecting practical risk reduction measures; Presenting assessment limitations and follow up.
Assessment
- 40 single best answer questions, including applied scenarios; one mark per question.
- 60 minute invigilated digital examination with identity verification. Approved accessibility adjustments preserve the assessed competence.
- Supplied reference pack and calculator permitted; external internet and AI prohibited.
- Individual applied assessment (30 minutes): Review supplied noise and vibration task data, identify uncertainty and prepare a prioritised exposure reduction and specialist assessment plan.
- Assessment criteria: Correct exposure concept interpretation; Effective practical control priorities; Clear evidence limits and referral needs.
- Pass each component separately: 30/40 written marks (75%) and at least 70% on the applied task.
- Individual results and feedback are provided. One reassessment may follow coaching under the published enrolment terms.
Certification
- Successful learners receive a TQCSI Arabia digital Certificate of Successful Completion.
- The certificate records the learner name, exact programme title, teaching hours, completion date and unique verification reference.
- Verified identity, full attendance and separate written and applied passes are required; all mandatory critical criteria must be met.
- Proposed issue target: within 30 calendar days of approved results and settlement of applicable fees.
- Records noise and vibration risk management learning; it does not qualify specialist measurement, medical surveillance or exposure compliance assessment.
- Attendance confirmation may record completed hours for unsuccessful learners; it does not certify successful completion.
