Programme Summary

A useful project schedule connects scope, dependencies, resources and progress evidence. This programme develops practical skills for building and controlling realistic project plans. Participants create a schedule from a work breakdown, identify critical activities and analyse a delayed project scenario, then recommend recovery actions that make cost, risk and stakeholder consequences visible before commitments are revised.

02

Training Objectives

1 Strengthen scope breakdown and planning discipline; 2 Improve activity sequencing and duration estimates; 3 Develop realistic resource and schedule controls; 4 Support evidence based progress and forecast decisions; 5 Build clear recovery and change recommendations.

03

Learning Outcomes

1 Develop a work breakdown and activity list; 2 Construct a logically linked project schedule; 3 Identify critical path and resource constraints; 4 Analyse progress variance and completion forecasts; 5 Recommend controlled recovery and schedule changes.

04

Target Audience

Project Planners; Project Engineers; Project Managers; Planning Coordinators; Project Controls Officers.

05

Target Industries

Construction; Engineering Projects; IT Implementation; Manufacturing Projects; Infrastructure; Facilities Projects.

  • Module 3 Activity Sequencing: Predecessors successors and dependency types; Leads lags and logical relationships; Avoiding artificial dates and broken logic.
  • Module 4 Duration and Effort Estimation: Quantity productivity and resource assumptions; Estimation ranges and uncertainty; Distinguishing effort from elapsed duration.
  • Module 5 Critical Path Analysis: Forward and backward pass concepts; Float critical activities and milestones; Interpreting near critical paths and constraints.
  • Module 6 Resource Planning: Resource availability calendars and capacity; Conflicts levelling and allocation tradeoffs; Specialist resources and procurement dependencies.
  • Module 7 Schedule Baseline: Review validation and approval controls; Milestone commitments and planning contingencies; Baseline records and change discipline.
  • Module 8 Progress Measurement: Objective completion evidence and status dates; Actual starts finishes and remaining durations; Data quality and progress reporting integrity.
  • Module 9 Forecasting and Performance: Schedule variance and completion outlook; Basic earned value interpretation; Limits of aggregate performance indicators.
  • Module 10 Recovery Options: Resequencing capacity and scope alternatives; Fast tracking crashing and added risks; Evaluating cost quality and stakeholder effects.
  • Module 11 Change and Reporting: Impact analysis and approval requests; Clear schedule narratives and exception reports; Communicating revised commitments and assumptions.
  • Module 12 Planning and Control Workshop: Building a linked project schedule; Updating a delayed project scenario; Presenting a justified recovery recommendation.

Assessment

  • 60 single best answer questions, including applied scenarios; one mark per question.
  • 90 minute invigilated digital examination with identity verification. Approved accessibility adjustments preserve the assessed competence.
  • Supplied reference pack permitted; external internet and AI assistance prohibited.
  • Individual applied assessment (45 minutes): Build and update a project schedule, identify critical constraints and prepare a recovery recommendation with change impacts and approval requirements.
  • Assessment criteria: Completeness and logic of the schedule; Accuracy of progress and forecast analysis; Quality of recovery tradeoffs and change controls.
  • Pass each component separately: 45/60 written marks (75%) and at least 70% on the applied task.
  • Individual results and feedback are provided. One reassessment may follow coaching under the published enrolment terms.
08

Certification

  • Successful learners receive a TQCSI Arabia digital Certificate of Successful Completion.
  • The certificate records the learner name, exact programme title, teaching hours, completion date and unique verification reference.
  • Verified identity, full attendance and separate written and applied passes are required; all mandatory critical criteria must be met.
  • Proposed issue target: within 30 calendar days of approved results and settlement of applicable fees.
  • Records assessed project planning and control skills; it does not confer external scheduling certification or authority to approve project changes.
  • Attendance confirmation may record completed hours for unsuccessful learners; it does not certify successful completion.
