Programme Summary
Use acceptance sampling as a controlled decision about a defined lot while recognising the risks inherent in sampling. Participants select appropriate plans, interpret operating characteristics and apply agreed acceptance and rejection rules. Practical cases address random selection, switching arrangements and nonconforming lots, helping teams avoid treating an acceptance limit as a guaranteed quality level for every delivery.
Training Objectives
1 Explain sampling decisions and associated risks; 2 Select plans suited to lots and characteristics; 3 Apply random selection and acceptance rules; 4 Interpret operating characteristics and switching arrangements; 5 Manage rejected lots without misrepresenting assurance.
Learning Outcomes
1 Define a lot and sampling characteristic; 2 Select a plan from supplied tables; 3 Apply acceptance and rejection criteria correctly; 4 Explain producer and consumer sampling risks; 5 Prepare a controlled lot disposition recommendation.
Target Audience
Quality Control Engineers; Incoming Inspection Supervisors; Supplier Quality Engineers; Quality Managers; Production Quality Supervisors.
Target Industries
Automotive Manufacturing; Electronics Manufacturing; Industrial Equipment Manufacturing; Medical Device Manufacturing; Consumer Goods Manufacturing; Industrial Services.
Course Contents
- Module 1 Acceptance Sampling Purpose: Lot decisions versus process improvement; Sampling risk and assurance limitations; When complete inspection or prevention is preferable.
- Module 2 Lots and Characteristics: Homogeneous lots and traceable boundaries; Defect classes and measurable characteristics; Attribute versus variable sampling choices.
- Module 3 Sampling Plan Structure: Sample size and acceptance numbers; Single double and multiple plan concepts; Agreed quality levels and customer requirements.
- Module 4 Random Sample Selection: Equal selection opportunity and practical methods; Avoiding convenience and biased sampling; Handling damaged inaccessible or replaced units.
- Module 5 Operating Characteristics: Probability of acceptance across quality levels; Producer and consumer risk interpretation; Tradeoffs in sample size and protection.
- Module 6 Applying Plans and Switching: Normal tightened and reduced conditions; Continuing lot history and switching evidence; Limits of applying schemes to isolated lots.
- Module 7 Nonconforming Lot Decisions: Rejection segregation and authorised disposition; Resubmission conditions and traceable reinspection; Reporting sampling conclusions without guarantees.
- Module 8 Sampling Decision Workshop: Selecting and applying a supplied plan; Interpreting acceptance risk in a case; Preparing a justified lot decision record.
Assessment
- 40 single best answer questions, including applied scenarios; one mark per question.
- 60 minute invigilated digital examination with identity verification. Approved accessibility adjustments preserve the assessed competence.
- Supplied reference pack and calculator permitted; external internet and AI prohibited.
- Individual applied assessment (30 minutes): Select and apply a sampling plan from supplied tables, interpret its risks and document a lot acceptance or rejection recommendation.
- Assessment criteria: Appropriate plan and random sampling logic; Correct acceptance rule application; Accurate risk and disposition communication.
- Pass each component separately: 30/40 written marks (75%) and at least 70% on the applied task.
- Individual results and feedback are provided. One reassessment may follow coaching under the published enrolment terms.
Certification
- Successful learners receive a TQCSI Arabia digital Certificate of Successful Completion.
- The certificate records the learner name, exact programme title, teaching hours, completion date and unique verification reference.
- Verified identity, full attendance and separate written and applied passes are required; all mandatory critical criteria must be met.
- Proposed issue target: within 30 calendar days of approved results and settlement of applicable fees.
- Records acceptance sampling skills; it does not guarantee lot quality or replace authorised product disposition decisions.
- Attendance confirmation may record completed hours for unsuccessful learners; it does not certify successful completion.
