Programme Summary
Maintain control of product and process configurations as technical changes move through an organisation. Participants establish clear baselines, assess impacts and coordinate approvals across engineering, quality, suppliers and operations. A change case develops traceable implementation and verification records, helping teams prevent mixed revisions, incomplete updates and unintended effects on form, fit, function or customer commitments.
Training Objectives
1 Define configuration baselines and accountable ownership; 2 Assess technical change impacts across interfaces; 3 Coordinate controlled review approval and implementation; 4 Maintain traceability of revisions and affected items; 5 Verify change completion and residual risks.
Learning Outcomes
1 Create a practical configuration item register; 2 Prepare a documented change impact assessment; 3 Define approval and implementation responsibilities; 4 Trace affected documents products and suppliers; 5 Verify change closure against acceptance evidence.
Target Audience
Configuration Coordinators; Engineering Change Managers; Quality Engineers; Design Engineers; Manufacturing Engineers.
Target Industries
Aerospace Manufacturing; Automotive Manufacturing; Industrial Equipment Manufacturing; Medical Device Manufacturing; Electronics Manufacturing; Engineering Projects.
Course Contents
- Module 1 Configuration Control Foundations: Configuration items baselines and identification; Form fit function and interface requirements; Roles across product and process lifecycles.
- Module 2 Baseline Definition: Approved drawings specifications and software versions; Bills of materials and process documentation; Unique identification and revision consistency.
- Module 3 Change Initiation: Problem rationale and proposed technical solution; Affected items customers and suppliers; Urgency classification and temporary change limits.
- Module 4 Impact Assessment: Safety quality regulatory and contractual effects; Interchangeability stock tooling and service implications; Verification validation and training requirements.
- Module 5 Review and Approval: Cross functional technical review responsibilities; Evidence needed for accountable authorisation; Conditions concessions and unresolved issue controls.
- Module 6 Implementation Planning: Effective dates serial ranges and stock disposition; Document system supplier and workforce updates; Preventing mixed revisions during transition.
- Module 7 Verification and Status Accounting: Completion evidence and acceptance checks; Current configuration and change status records; Reviewing unintended effects and closure.
- Module 8 Change Control Workshop: Assessing a multi interface change case; Preparing an implementation and verification plan; Defending a controlled closure recommendation.
Assessment
- 40 single best answer questions, including applied scenarios; one mark per question.
- 60 minute invigilated digital examination with identity verification. Approved accessibility adjustments preserve the assessed competence.
- Supplied reference pack and calculator permitted; external internet and AI prohibited.
- Individual applied assessment (30 minutes): Assess an engineering change, map affected configuration items and prepare implementation, verification and closure requirements.
- Assessment criteria: Complete interface and impact analysis; Traceable approval and implementation controls; Evidence based change closure judgement.
- Pass each component separately: 30/40 written marks (75%) and at least 70% on the applied task.
- Individual results and feedback are provided. One reassessment may follow coaching under the published enrolment terms.
Certification
- Successful learners receive a TQCSI Arabia digital Certificate of Successful Completion.
- The certificate records the learner name, exact programme title, teaching hours, completion date and unique verification reference.
- Verified identity, full attendance and separate written and applied passes are required; all mandatory critical criteria must be met.
- Proposed issue target: within 30 calendar days of approved results and settlement of applicable fees.
- Records configuration and engineering change control skills; design authority and regulatory approvals remain separate responsibilities.
- Attendance confirmation may record completed hours for unsuccessful learners; it does not certify successful completion.
