Programme Summary

Evaluate how well a stable process can meet defined customer or engineering requirements. Participants distinguish short term capability from overall performance, examine distribution assumptions and assess measurement suitability. Worked examples address one sided limits, nonnormal data and misleading indices, producing clear capability conclusions that communicate uncertainty and direct improvement towards the right source of variation.

02

Training Objectives

1 Connect capability analysis with customer requirements; 2 Check stability measurement and data suitability; 3 Interpret capability and performance indices correctly; 4 Recognise limitations of distribution assumptions; 5 Translate capability evidence into improvement priorities.

03

Learning Outcomes

1 Evaluate data readiness for capability analysis; 2 Calculate and interpret relevant capability indices; 3 Assess one sided and nonnormal cases; 4 Identify misleading or unsupported capability claims; 5 Prepare a qualified capability improvement recommendation.

04

Target Audience

Quality Engineers; Process Engineers; Quality Managers; Production Supervisors; Continuous Improvement Specialists.

05

Target Industries

Automotive Manufacturing; Electronics Manufacturing; Industrial Equipment Manufacturing; Medical Device Manufacturing; Consumer Goods Manufacturing; Industrial Services.

Course Contents

  • Module 1 Capability and Performance Concepts: Customer specifications and process behaviour; Short term versus overall variation; Capability indices and their decision uses.
  • Module 2 Readiness for Analysis: Stable process and representative sampling; Measurement system suitability and resolution; Data grouping and operating condition consistency.
  • Module 3 Distribution Assessment: Histograms probability plots and outliers; Normality assumptions and practical limitations; Mixtures shifts and inappropriate transformations.
  • Module 4 Normal Capability Indices: Potential and centred capability measures; Overall performance indices and interpretation; One sided specifications and target considerations.
  • Module 5 Uncertainty and Sample Size: Sampling variation in estimated indices; Confidence limits and evidence sufficiency; Avoiding unsupported precision in capability claims.
  • Module 6 Nonnormal and Attribute Situations: Suitable models and percentile approaches; Defect proportions and rare events; Limits of cross process comparisons.
  • Module 7 Improvement and Reporting: Centring variation reduction and control priorities; Clear scope assumptions and limitations; Customer criteria and review responsibilities.
  • Module 8 Capability Review Workshop: Checking readiness and calculating indices; Challenging a misleading capability report; Presenting a justified improvement recommendation.
07

Assessment

  • 40 single best answer questions, including applied scenarios; one mark per question.
  • 60 minute invigilated digital examination with identity verification. Approved accessibility adjustments preserve the assessed competence.
  • Supplied reference pack and calculator permitted; external internet and AI prohibited.
  • Individual applied assessment (30 minutes): Review a process dataset for stability and measurement suitability, interpret capability results and write a qualified recommendation with improvement priorities.
  • Assessment criteria: Sound readiness and assumption checks; Correct index interpretation; Honest reporting and improvement logic.
  • Pass each component separately: 30/40 written marks (75%) and at least 70% on the applied task.
  • Individual results and feedback are provided. One reassessment may follow coaching under the published enrolment terms.
08

Certification

  • Successful learners receive a TQCSI Arabia digital Certificate of Successful Completion.
  • The certificate records the learner name, exact programme title, teaching hours, completion date and unique verification reference.
  • Verified identity, full attendance and separate written and applied passes are required; all mandatory critical criteria must be met.
  • Proposed issue target: within 30 calendar days of approved results and settlement of applicable fees.
  • Records process capability analysis skills; course completion does not certify the capability of a product or process.
  • Attendance confirmation may record completed hours for unsuccessful learners; it does not certify successful completion.
