Programme Summary
See how work, information and inventory interact across an entire value stream. Participants map current performance, distinguish processing time from waiting and design a practical future state around customer demand. Manufacturing and service cases connect flow, pull and workload with measurable improvement priorities, helping teams avoid isolated changes that simply move delays or excess work elsewhere.
Training Objectives
1 Understand value stream performance across functions; 2 Capture factual material and information flows; 3 Identify delay inventory and workload constraints; 4 Design feasible future state flow improvements; 5 Translate future state design into accountable actions.
Learning Outcomes
1 Create a current state value stream; 2 Calculate lead time and processing time; 3 Identify significant flow and information barriers; 4 Design a justified future state map; 5 Prepare a sequenced implementation action plan.
Target Audience
Lean Coordinators; Operations Managers; Process Engineers; Supply Chain Analysts; Service Improvement Leads.
Target Industries
Manufacturing; Warehousing and Distribution; Order Processing Services; Maintenance Services; Healthcare Administration; Shared Services.
Course Contents
- Module 1 Value Stream Scope: Customer value and product families; Start end points and process ownership; Material information and service flow.
- Module 2 Collecting Current State Evidence: Direct observation and reliable process data; Cycle time changeover availability and queues; Demand patterns and information triggers.
- Module 3 Current State Mapping: Process boxes inventories and handoffs; Information flows and scheduling decisions; Timeline calculations and total lead time.
- Module 4 Flow Analysis: Bottlenecks batching and waiting causes; Push systems and excess work in process; Local optimisation and system consequences.
- Module 5 Future State Principles: Customer demand and takt considerations; Continuous flow pull and replenishment choices; Pacemaker process and workload levelling.
- Module 6 Future State Feasibility: Capacity variability and changeover constraints; Quality safety and supplier dependencies; Testing assumptions before committing changes.
- Module 7 Implementation Planning: Improvement loops and sequenced priorities; Measures ownership and resource commitments; Progress reviews and learning cycles.
- Module 8 Mapping Workshop: Building current and future state maps; Calculating lead time improvement opportunities; Presenting a realistic implementation roadmap.
Assessment
- 40 single best answer questions, including applied scenarios; one mark per question.
- 60 minute invigilated digital examination with identity verification. Approved accessibility adjustments preserve the assessed competence.
- Supplied reference pack and calculator permitted; external internet and AI prohibited.
- Individual applied assessment (30 minutes): Map a supplied value stream, calculate lead time, design a feasible future state and prioritise improvement actions with owners and measures.
- Assessment criteria: Accurate current state and flow data; Coherent feasible future state design; Clear implementation priorities and measures.
- Pass each component separately: 30/40 written marks (75%) and at least 70% on the applied task.
- Individual results and feedback are provided. One reassessment may follow coaching under the published enrolment terms.
Certification
- Successful learners receive a TQCSI Arabia digital Certificate of Successful Completion.
- The certificate records the learner name, exact programme title, teaching hours, completion date and unique verification reference.
- Verified identity, full attendance and separate written and applied passes are required; all mandatory critical criteria must be met.
- Proposed issue target: within 30 calendar days of approved results and settlement of applicable fees.
- Records value stream mapping and improvement planning skills; changes require responsible process owner approval.
- Attendance confirmation may record completed hours for unsuccessful learners; it does not certify successful completion.
